Vitaflo Research Fund Launches

Vitaflo are delighted to announce the launch of their new international research fund which is now open for applications for 2022.


Vitaflo will make available a total grant fund of £100,000 for the 2022 calendar year to encourage research into clinical nutrition/dietary management in the fields of inborn errors of metabolism, ketogenic diet or paediatric renal disease.


Vitaflo expects that the fund will be apportioned in the form of ten grants per year of £10,000 each, but reserves the right to allocate the Fund in larger or smaller tranches, depending on the applications received, up to the maximum amount per year specified above.


Applications for monies from the Fund must be received by Vitaflo before 31 October 2021.


Application to the Fund


In order to be considered for a grant from the Fund, you must submit a research proposal in English relating to the improvement of clinical practice nutrition/dietary management of inborn errors of metabolism, ketogenic diet or pediatric renal disease. Your proposal should include:


  1. The research project’s title, aim, hypothesis and potential outcomes.
  2. An explanation of how this will improve clinical practice in the field.
  3. Study design details (including sample size, inclusion/exclusion criteria, duration and timetable/milestone).
  4. An explanation of why the project has scientific value, is innovative and would benefit from the Fund.
  5. Budget and funding amount requested.
  6. CV of applicant(s) including any history of research experience.

Vitaflo will acknowledge receipt of every application received and will provide feedback to unsuccessful applicants on request.


A panel consisting of Vitaflo employees with experience in the relevant field will evaluate each application that meets the criteria above. Successful applicants will be determined by simple majority vote and the Panel’s decision is final.


Who can apply and how?


All professionals working in the fields of inborn errors of metabolism, ketogenic diet or paediatric renal disease are invited to apply to the Fund. The Panel will give priority to applications related to dietary management and we particularly welcome applications from new researchers.


By applying to the Fund, all applicants confirm that they are not participating in any other activities would identified as an actual, potential or perceived conflict of interest. Please submit applications to researchfunding@vitaflo.co.uk. Successful applicants will be notified by email within 30 days.
