The link between nutrition and diabetes

A healthy diet and lifestyle are the cornerstones for the management of type 2 diabetes. If you have diabetes, eating a healthy and nutritious diet can help better manage blood sugar levels, support weight management, and in some cases, even put the disease into remission.

Type 2 diabetes is a condition which causes blood glucose (sugar) levels to become too high. A person can develop the condition when their body becomes resistant to insulin or when their pancreas is unable to produce enough insulin. There are different reasons for this, including genetic factors, being overweight and being inactive.

But through good nutrition and weight loss, people with type 2 diabetes can improve their blood glucose levels and manage or even put their disease into remission.

We are proud to support the 2020 Understanding Diabetes campaign which features exclusive content from key thought leaders and industry voices about the importance of nutrition for managing diabetes. A printed publication was enclosed within every copy of the UK Guardian newspaper and the content is available online at https://bit.ly/2TXASfC.
