INCONSOLABLE CRYING

Crying is a normal type of behaviour for a baby, however when a baby is crying inconsolably for hours, it may be very difficult for a parent to understand. Nothing you can do can help your baby when he or she has an inconsolable cry.

Why is my baby crying for hours?

Your baby:
  • May have a food allergy, e.g. Cow’s Milk Protein Allergy (CMPA)
  • May be suffering from colic (see Colic)
  • May be hungry, tired, bored or uncomfortable

Could it be Cow’s Milk Protein Allergy?

Inconsolable crying is a common symptom for babies with CMPA and is very common in babies under three months. Babies with CMPA usually experience more than just one symptom and these symptoms can be very different from one another.

If you think that your baby is crying inconsolably, it could be CMPA. You may have even noticed other symptoms (besides inconsolable crying), which may affect other parts of your baby’s body.

For a simple and easy way to check common symptoms associated with CMPA, you can use our symptom checker.

In any case, if you have any doubts or concerns about your baby’s health, you should always seek advice from a medical professional as soon as possible.
