(November 27, 2019 - Taizhou, Jiangsu Province) Nestlé Health Science (NHSc) today inaugurated a Product Innovation Center in Taizhou, Jiangsu Province, China. The Product Innovation Center will work in collaboration with NHSc’s existing Product Innovation Centers in the United States and Switzerland, sharing research and developments. The Taizhou Center will also develop and localize innovations specifically for the Chinese market.
The Product Innovation Center has already produced its first product, which is also a milestone for China: the first food for special purposes (FSMP) produced in China. Nutren® Novasource GI® obtained FSMP registration July 2019.
Grégory Behar, CEO of Nestlé Health Science, said at the inauguration, “Innovation is the driving force for our business, and the new Product Innovation Center will become the foundation for this in China. We have produced the first food for special medical purposes, or FSMP, in China, and that is only the first step to our being able to provide the same products to Chinese patients as to other patients around the world. Because of the scale and abilities of the Center, it will also support the Asia-Pacific region.”
Cecily Gu, Regional Business Head of Nestlé Health Science GCR said, “Quality is the lifeline of enterprise. I believe that FSMP will release great vitality and bring more opportunities for enterprises and consumers in China. Nestlé Health Science has products that cover the whole life cycle of nutrition. The Product Innovation Center will continue to carry out localized innovations, develop formulas according to Chinese tastes and nutritional diet characteristics, and enable more patients to receive nutritional treatment. It also helps to further narrow the gap in clinical nutrition treatment.”
Secretary of Taizhou CPC Municipal Committee Shi Lijun said, “The NHS PIC will not only lay a good nutritional foundation for Chinese consumers, but it will also play an active role in promoting high-tech innovation and talent cultivation of FSMP in Taizhou and even in the country.”
“At the new Product Innovation Center, we are developing products that leverage the latest health insights from our global team,” said Behar. “We are excited to be working on products tailored to the Chinese market, and we are in the registration process with EC regarding many products that can be adapted for China.”
